You may think you will never need it. Yet there are situations where it is conceivable that you would want it: anonymous texting. It is important that you know how it works. After all, it has to be done safely.
Why would you send an anonymous SMS?
There are several conceivable situations in which you would like to send an anonymous SMS. For example, the most obvious reason, if you want to play a prank on someone. But this is not only a good outcome for jokes. It can also offer a solution for situations you don’t want people to know who you are. What if, for example, you have contracted an STD. You may have had other bed partners and want to share this. Often people are ashamed of this and therefore will not tell it at all. This leads to a situation from bad to worse. You can therefore let all your bed partners know what is going on with an anonymous text message. Ofcourse the situation does not always have to be so serious. You can also use it if you don’t dare to ask someone something. If you can edit the sender’s name, you could even use it to send a text message through your company. Customers will not see your telephone number, but the name of your company.
How does it work?
Sending an anonymous SMS is not possible with your phone. You will have to go to a website for this. You can then send an anonymous text message via such a website. You can often determine the name of the sender yourself, or just leave it on anonymous. These websites use the same technology as, for example, your telephone provider. For example, if you receive an SMS from your telephone provider, KPN will be listed as the sender, but never a telephone number. That is why you could also apply this in your company if you do not want your customers to have your private telephone number. It is true that this is more expensive than sending a normal SMS. It depends on the website you use, not all of them are even expensive. Please note that the reliability of every website cannot always be guaranteed.
